Ambassador Matsumura's visit to Tartu

On 2nd February, Ambassador Matsumura made his first official visit to Tartu since his arrival in Estonia and visited the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the University of Tartu and Tartu Science Park, exchanged views with the Rector of the University of Tartu, Prof. Asser, and attended the Book Donation Ceremony for the "READ JAPAN PROJECT" to the University of Tartu Library.
At the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the University of Tartu and Tartu Science Park, the Ambassador was briefed on the facilities, ongoing projects, activities of resident companies, and start-up related events such as "sTARTUp day". They exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including the possibilities of cooperation with Japanese industries and expansion of business to the Japanese market.
After the meeting with the Rector, Prof. Toomas Asser, in which they discussed Estonia's history as an IT state and the challenges facing this field today, the Ambassador attended the Book Donation Ceremony for the "READ JAPAN PROJECT" to the University of Tartu Library. He expressed his hope that the donation of 96 books will contribute to the promotion of academic and cultural exchange between the two countries this year, which the Estonian Ministry of Culture has designated as the "Year of Libraries".
